Hotel do Minho

The Portuguese architecture practice Virgula I (Joao Pedro Pereira) used local Iberian chestnut to introduce warmth and character into the renovation and extension of this hotel in Vila Nova de Cerveira. The wood, supplied by Siero Lam, is used both inside and outside to link the spaces visually and to create a warm contrast with the plain white walls of the existing buildings. Some of the spaces are clad in chestnut panels and the ceilings are made of timber battens.
