Inchicore school, Dublin

The project by Donaghy + Dimond Architects gave Inchicore National School in Dublin, built in the nineteenth century, a renovated structure wrapped in curtain walling and chestnut cladding supplied by Siero Lam, integrating the school into its surroundings. The building is a pioneer in the use of chestnut from sustainable European forests. The design won the Royal Institute of the Architects of Ireland prize for best educational building in 2015, the Architectural Association of Ireland Downes Medal in 2016, and in 2017 was among the 40 best entries for the EU Mies Award for contemporary architecture.
