Ledge Mountain deck, Austin

This house in west Austin was fully renovated after purchase. The deck around the pool was a priority: built in treated pine, it had cupped and warped to the point of being unsafe to walk on.

The owners appointed Centex Decks for the rebuild and selected Kebony Clear after comparing several decking options. The job was among the first Kebony installations in the Austin market, which the Norwegian company had only recently entered.

The modified wood is made from FSC-certified softwood whose cell structure is altered by impregnation and heat treatment. The result has mechanical performance close to a hardwood and greater stability: it greys naturally like hardwoods, without the cupping and warping seen on the treated pine it replaces.
