Miami Science Barge

The Miami Science Barge is a floating urban ecological laboratory that also serves as a public environmental education centre. It launched in April 2016 in Biscayne Bay, Florida.

The facility welcomes students aged six to eighteen for guided field trips, tours and workshops on green technologies and marine life, within a science and technology teaching framework.

Kebony and CustomBeach installed more than 900 square feet of modified wood decking on the barge. The setting is demanding: permanent contact with salt water, intense south Florida sun and school groups circulating on deck. Kebony modified wood offers a long service life there with no finish. To mark the opening, Kebony gave away two hundred and fifty wooden plant stakes with seeds to students.
