Oviedo Sports Palace

The recent renovation of the Oviedo Sports Palace has completely modernised one of the most emblematic buildings in the city. The most striking element of the work is the exterior chestnut cladding: new decorative battens laid following the existing vertical rhythm. The choice of chestnut is no accident: a species native to Asturias, it is recognised for its excellent performance outdoors, its natural durability and its dimensional stability, which make it an ideal choice for an exposed facade. Siero Lam supplied the chestnut cladding, a high-quality construction solution that guarantees the wood will behave well in the face of moisture, solar radiation and changes in temperature, while supporting the local Asturian economy.
