Pool deck at Victory Heights, Dubai

This pool deck was built in the Victory Heights district of Dubai, around a contemporary villa. The decking is conceived as a continuous extension of the outdoor space, with no break in material or setting-out.

Kebony Clear was chosen for its smooth, knot-free surface, which suits the villa's lines. Installation uses a hidden fastening system: the 22 x 142 mm boards are side-slit and held by clips, removing any visible screw.

Dubai's climate is hard on decking: extreme solar radiation, prolonged heat and constant proximity to water. The high dimensional stability of the modified wood limits warping and checking there. The owner also notes that the surface remains comfortable underfoot in strong sunlight, and that upkeep is limited to cleaning, with no chemical treatment.
