Two Accoya decks in Corsica

This magnificent private home is nestled at Sant’Amanza, in the gulf of Bonifacio, in Corsica. Faced with the hot island climate, extreme weather and direct sunlight, the choice of decking material was crucial. The local contractor Alain Maisani, of Maisani Bois, with several positive experiences of Accoya behind him, persuaded the owner and the architect Bruno Féché to opt for this timber. In all, 550 m² of untreated Accoya clothe the pool surround and the first-floor balcony terrace. Installed a month apart, the two decks show contrasting tones: the more exposed one has weathered to a fine pale grey, illustrating the natural evolution of Accoya left bare. Installation was carried out with the grad concealed fixing system, with clips and no screws, for a flawless result. Alain Maisani says he is extremely pleased with the outcome.
