Two Schools shared campus, Seattle

Two Schools brings Lake Washington Girls Middle School and Giddens School together on a single site in Seattle. The two institutions teamed up to create a shared campus, conceived as an educational facility but also as a civic hub open to the neighbourhood.

The buildings are clad in Kebony, in both the Clear and Character grades. The Character grade, with its visible knots, was used in 21 x 148 mm 90-degree shiplap boards. Kebony Clear decking completes the external works.

Resource efficiency was among the project's objectives. Kebony modified wood, produced from certified softwoods impregnated with a bio-based liquid, meets that requirement while offering a long service life with no finish.
