YETI corporate office, Austin

YETI has created an outdoor employee lounge at its corporate office in Austin, Texas. The space brings together couches, hammocks and tables, and suits both a quiet break and informal meetings.

Architect Matt Dawson of TBG Partners specified Kebony modified wood across several parts of the project: decking, tables, benches and accents on various existing structures.

Two criteria drove the choice. First, the contribution natural materials make to the atmosphere of a workplace, an effect sought in a space designed for recovery. Second, how the material behaves under prolonged sun and weather exposure: Kebony greys evenly with no finish to reapply, avoiding differences in appearance between elements over the years.
