Apartment renovation in Vigo

Starting from a derelict 1960s apartment, Alberto Quintáns and Cristina Ansede (Ansede Quintáns) managed to create a contemporary atmosphere in which the work still lets the soul of the original space show through. The concrete structure of the ceiling was recovered, the original chestnut doors restored and the timber gallery rebuilt with its original parts. The new materials are almost exclusively solid chestnut, supplied by Siero Lam, and lime render. In the bathroom, the chestnut floor sits alongside hexagonal stoneware tiles; in the kitchen, the chestnut joinery is paired with a Carrara marble worktop.
