ATMOSPHERE spa, Hotel Krallerhof, Leogang

The five-star Hotel Krallerhof in Leogang, Austria, opened its new spa and wellness facility, ATMOSPHERE, in April 2023, designed by Hadi Teherani Architects.

The facility is organised around a fifty-metre infinity pool set within a 5,500 square metre natural swimming lake. All the surrounding decks and edges are laid in Kebony modified wood.

The design seeks accord with the alpine landscape: the siting limits the visual impact of the facility and enhances the setting rather than overlaying it. The project's environmental approach runs through the choice of low-impact materials and the use of local resources for heating.

Kebony modified wood provides the durability and low maintenance expected around a pool at altitude, exposed to freeze cycles and continuous use. Photography: René Sievert.
