Panoramic observation deck, Berlin Tempelhof Airport

The redevelopment of Berlin's former Tempelhof Airport has reached a milestone with the completion of a 600 square metre walkway on the roof of the building and, in the control tower, a 360-degree observation deck twenty-six metres up. Both are built in Kebony modified wood decking.

Created in 1923, Tempelhof Airport holds a particular place in German history. During the Second World War the site housed a concentration camp whose prisoners were put to work building civil and military aircraft. During the Soviet land blockade of Berlin in 1948 and 1949 it became the destination of the Allied airlift that supplied West Berlin, with numerous daily flights.
