Dietrich's Technology France is a publisher of CAD/CAM and structural analysis software dedicated to timber framing and wood construction. Based in Strasbourg, the company is the French subsidiary of Dietrich's AG, a company founded in 1982 by Josef Dietrich and Uwe Emmer on the strength of their carpentry expertise. The group has been developing its solutions for around forty years and today has about a hundred employees in research, development, sales and customer support, with an internationally deployed business and software available in thirteen languages. The core business is to design professional 3D CAD/CAM systems covering the entire chain, from as-built surveying through to transfer to CNC machines. The offering brings together design, estimating, drawings and structural analysis in a single environment, and is aimed at craft carpenters as well as engineering offices and prefabrication manufacturers. The range covers timber frames and roofs, timber frame walls (MOB), solid CLT panels, post-and-beam structures, half-timbering, beams and logs, stairs and roofing. It includes 3D modeling, 2D drafting, quantity takeoffs and cutting lists, thermal calculations, as well as the DC-Statik structural calculation module and CAM transfer to CNC machines. It supports more than 10,000 users. The software supports BIM interoperability via the IFC format, with import of models from architects or engineering firms. Dietrich's rounds out its offering with training, technical support, tutorials, webinars and a user forum.
