MiTek France is the French subsidiary of a global construction-technology group, specializing in the engineering of industrialized timber roof structures. Based in Créteil, the French subsidiary is part of the MiTek group, founded in 1955 in the United States with the invention of the Gang-Nail plate, which made the industrial and affordable manufacture of timber trussed rafters possible. The group, now owned by Berkshire Hathaway, employs more than 6,000 staff worldwide and operates in Europe through subsidiaries in several countries, including France, Germany, Poland, the Czech Republic, Finland, Sweden and the United Kingdom. MiTek introduced the off-site timber construction method from the United States to Europe in the 1960s, making off-site a historic component of its identity. MiTek's core business is based on an integrated Design-Make-Build approach, combining timber-structure engineering software solutions, metal connectors and manufacturing equipment, for component manufacturers, house builders and design offices. The range covers technical products for roof structures, floors, packaging, formwork and floats, metal connectors, trussed-rafter systems and the POSI® joist, as well as machines (presses for trusses and POSI joists, saws, handling and laser equipment, printers) and software (Pamir, Pamir Ossature, MiTek 3D, MiTek Optics). The company also offers dedicated timber-engineering services, support for secondary trades and house builders, and an integrated design office. MiTek highlights its mission of promoting the adoption of off-site construction, with notable references such as the “Les Arcades” social housing in Créteil, awarded E3C1 (level-2 bio-based) and NF Habitat BEPOS Effinergie 2017 labels.
