Protac

Protac is a French manufacturer specializing in the secondary processing of wood for housing and outdoor development. Based in Lamballe, in Brittany, the company was founded in 1995 within the Rose Group. It was originally created to control the quality of the raw material, planing and treatment process, activities now grouped on a single production site in Lamballe, where all the planing and finishing lines are installed. Protac's core business is secondary processing: the company imports rough boards, mainly softwood, then masters drying, planing, preservation treatment and finishing to give the wood a profile and protection suited to its use. It notably works spruce, Douglas fir, larch and red cedar, favoring Northern woods from northern forests. The range covers cladding, panelling, decking, fencing, roofing, shutters, floors and construction timber, with a wide catalog of references. It comes in several identified lines, including Essentiel (saturated wood), Struktur (charred-wood-effect finishes inspired by Shou Sugi Ban) and Résist'O'Feu (fire-resistant wood solutions). The wood used comes from sustainably managed forests, certified PEFC or FSC. The company also makes use of its manufacturing by-products in the form of wood pellets or animal bedding, and highlights an environmental approach through the LCB charter and CSR and OHS charters.
