Description
OAKBOT is the modular timber framing robot developed by EPUR, a French manufacturer. This CNC technology core mounts on the OAKMOBILE or OAKSTATION frames to form a complete machine, in the workshop as on site. It is a three-axis CNC milling machine driven by NEMA 23 stepper motors with built-in encoders, with ball screw transmission and lifetime-lubricated roller guides. The air-cooled industrial spindle, fitted with an ER32 collet, runs at up to 23,000 rpm for a stated accuracy of a tenth of a millimetre. Controlled through a touchscreen interface designed in-house, OAKBOT produces tenons, mortises, dovetails, cross-ties, bridle joints and multi-angle machining. Its modular design allows updates and the addition of modules, extending the working life of the tool. The operator stays away from the cutting tools throughout the cycle, under emergency stop.
