Epur

Epur is a French manufacturer of CNC timber-framing cutting machines. Based in Rodome, on the Plateau de Sault in the Aude Pyrenees (Aude, Occitanie), the company was created in 2016 by two carpenters, Ilias Zinsstag and Pierre Giusti. Starting from a concrete need encountered on site, they filed a patent, founded the company and developed a portable CNC framing router named OAKBOT. Epur has a dedicated R&D hub and ensures French manufacturing. Epur has specialized in the automated machining of traditional timber-framing joints. The OAKBOT robot works on three digital axes with ball-screw transmission and reaches a milling precision of around 0.1 mm. Its human-machine interface makes it possible to program a joint by choosing the type and entering the dimensions, with no programming skills. The machines are aimed at both craftsmen and industrial users, on rough sawn wood as well as industrialized wood. The range is based on the OAKBOT robot, available in two configurations: OAKMOBILE, a mobile version mounted on a trolley to follow the user in the workshop or on site, and OAKSTATION, a stationary version integrated into the workshop as a machining center. These machines produce various joints: tenons, mortises, half-laps, dovetails, bridle joints and cross-tie beams (moises). Epur has no known product certification to date.
