EPUR OAKSTATION Stationary CNC Timber Framing Machine

Description

Designed by EPUR for the workshop, the OAKSTATION is the stationary version of the OAKBOT robot, mounted on a fixed frame with a large machining table. This four-axis CNC milling machine fits into a timber framing production line and handles small and large sections alike. The drive train carries over the NEMA 23 encoder motors, the ball screw transmission and the air-cooled industrial spindle with an ER32 collet, for accuracy to within a tenth of a millimetre. The cutter travel spans (3 × 300) × 200 × 83 mm and the section that can be machined at the end of a beam reaches 440 × 207 mm at 90°, up to 515 mm wide depending on the cutting angle. The OAKSTATION cuts tenons, mortises, cross-ties, dovetails and bridle joints under touchscreen control, the operator remaining out of reach of the tools throughout machining.
