Wintersteiger WoodTech

Wintersteiger WoodTech is the wood division of the Austrian Wintersteiger group, specializing in precision thin-kerf wood sawing machines. The Wintersteiger group was founded in 1953 by Fritz Walter and Johann Wintersteiger in Obernberg am Inn, Austria, and set up its headquarters in Ried im Innkreis as early as 1958. Now an international machine-building group present in 130 countries with more than 1,000 employees, it organizes its business into four areas, including WoodTech. This division brings together several companies, including Wintersteiger Sägen GmbH (created in 2004), SERRA Maschinenbau (acquired in 2019) and Heermann Maschinenbau (HEMA, since 2022). WoodTech focuses on precision thin-kerf cutting, a technique that reduces material loss during sawing and delivers surfaces ready for gluing with no further finishing. The division designs and manufactures its blades in-house. The catalog covers thin-kerf band-saw frames and blades, carbide and Stellite blades, log saws and resaws, as well as mobile and fixed sawmills through SERRA. WoodTech also offers cosmetic wood-repair machines (TRC), composite-cutting systems (HEMA) and automation solutions developed at the Mettmach site. Applications target lamella production, flooring, furniture and panels. Wintersteiger presents itself as the world leader in precision thin-kerf wood cutting and emphasizes an approach focused on regionality and sustainability.
