Description

Timber construction involves a series of deep drilling operations, where cycle time and tool life directly impact production cost. Leitz extra-long HS twist drills have been developed for the materials and requirements of this sector. Equipped with a center point and a scorer, they drill most of the time without intermediate re-drilling, with high feed rates and chip ejection that reduces incidents. Exit positioning accuracy improves by around 50% and tool life reaches up to ten times that of standard twist drills. The drillings come out clean at the entry of through holes, which makes fitting inserts easier. Overall length is up to 460 mm, the cutting material is HS, and the tool can be resharpened several times. It is intended only for machining solid wood and is compatible with common joinery systems.
