SEMA is a German publisher of CAD/CAM software for timber construction, roof structures, staircases and roofing-zinc work. Based in Wildpoldsried, in the Allgäu in Bavaria, the company (SEMA GmbH) has developed its solutions since 1984 and celebrated its 40th anniversary in 2024. Since 2022 it has belonged to the Systabuild Software Group, whose majority shareholder is Bregal Unternehmerkapital. It has offices in several European countries and in North America, with a French presence in Colmar, Besançon, Château-Gontier, Bouclans and Champs. The company has specialized in 2D/3D design for the wood and metal trades, with tools covering the entire workflow, from planning to driving CNC machining centers. A pioneer in the direct transmission of data to machines from 1987 and in 3D visualization, it claims a world-leading position in timber-construction software and has made its staircase software a market benchmark. The catalog is organized into trade packages: SEMA Roof Structure, SEMA Timber Construction (frame, CLT), SEMA Prefabrication and SEMA Roofing-Zinc-Facade. The software integrates modeling, automatic quantity take-off, cost calculation, project management and the export of machining data. SEMA supports the IFC and BCF exchange formats for BIM, and offers training and technical support via its SEMA College platform.
