What is Exterior PVC Cladding?

 

PVC cladding, or plastic cladding, is made of polyvinyl chloride, a plastic material widely used for coverings and other facings. Exterior PVC cladding comes in the form of easy-to-install PVC boards, offering a nice finish and strong resistance to impacts and bad weather. 

Exterior PVC cladding has several advantages, including excellent energy performance through reinforced insulation in both summer and winter, good acoustic insulation, good waterproofing, good durability, and attractive finishes (wood, stone, colors, etc.). 

The drawbacks relate to the material itself: PVC is a plastic made from petroleum, which is not very eco-friendly. However, more and more PVC cladding boards are being made with recycled plastic, limiting their environmental impact. 

What is the price of exterior PVC cladding?

 

Exterior PVC cladding is available in different ranges, so the price per m² varies from 10 € per m² for cheap PVC cladding (entry-level products) to sometimes more than 90 € per m² (for products with the best finishes and performance).

As for the installation cost of exterior PVC cladding, since it is quite easy, the price is between 150 and 190 € per m², not including any potential preparatory work to be done on your facade. 

How does PVC cladding help with exterior insulation? 

 

Thanks to its plastic composition, PVC cladding helps insulate a facade effectively. In winter, cold air infiltration is greatly limited, as is hot air infiltration in summer. 

Exterior PVC cladding therefore provides good insulation for your home, provided there are no other air leaks.

PVC cladding can be vertical or horizontal, and comes in different effects (stone look, wood look, etc.) and colors (white, anthracite gray, red, etc.).
